Jacob R.Lampert was born August 9, 1844, the fourth of six children born to Jacob Lampert (1814-1848) and Anna Katherine Lampert-Tschumpert (1813-1902). Jacob R.'s brothers and sisters were:

Mathias (1839 - 1976)
Johann Peter (1841-1864)
Anna Catherina (1842-1912)
Bartholomew (1946-1898)
Joseph (1849-1924)

In all my research I cannot find what the R. stands for in Jacob R. Lampert and in fact he was born simply as Jacob Lampert but at some point in time before Jacob R. went west to the Black Hills of South Dakota the "R" was added as a middle initial perhaps to clearly deferentiate him from his father Jacob (1814-1848).

Jacob R. Lampert's Grandparents were Mathias Lampert (1775-1839) and Anna (Riederer) Lampert (1777-1838).

Mathias had one sister; Anna Katherina Lampert (1777 -1840).

Jocob R. Lampert's Great Grandparents were Jakob Lampert (b about 1750 in Flasch, Sitzerland) <note the old spelling of Jakob> and Margaret Adank (b. Flasch, Switzerland)
